Re-cut Editions of Fugazi "Margin Walker" & "Furniture" Single Out Now

With the release of the newly re-cut editions of Margin Walker and the Furniture single we are now very close to having the entire Fugazi catalog re-issued on vinyl. The only album remaining is the Instrument Soundtrack which will be re-issued in December.


This new edition of Margin Walker was re-cut at Chicago Mastering Service, features a new design culled from the original art pieces, and includes a free MP3 Download.

On November 24th Desoto and Dischord will team up to release a new, completely re-mastered and re-packaged, edition of the Jawbox album, For Your Own Special Sweetheart -- a masterpiece long lost in the weeds of major label limbo. The new edition CD and LP was re-mastered by Bob Weston of Chicago Mastering Service and features all new artwork by Jason Farrell. The CD includes 3 extra tracks from the Savory + 3 EP and the LP features a free MP3 download of the album (including the extra tracks).

Gray Matter "Take It Back" and "Food For Thought" LP Re-Issues

On November 24th Dischord will re-issue Gray Matter's second album, Take It Back. This new edition has been expanded into a full-length LP (on colored vinyl) with 4 extra tracks from the band's 1991 double seven inch and will feature an MP3 download. Take It Back was first issued as a six song EP in the direct aftermath of the "Revolution Summer" renaissance of the DC punk scene in 1985. Although the songs are available on a Maxi-CD, the vinyl fell out of print long ago.

Updated "Dance of Days" Book Back In Print & Now Available

Mark Anderson & Mark Jenkin's book, Dance of Days, has been re-issued with updated content and a new color cover on Akashic Books. Dance of Days takes a look at the DC punk scene from the political and historical perspectives of the book's authors and offers first-hand insight to the workings of a scene that produced Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Fugazi, Tsunami, Bikini Kill and many others.

Mark Andersen is also the author of All The Power, which is also published by Akashic Books and is available from Dischord. Akashic is owned by ex-Soul Side and Girls Against Boys bassist Johnny Temple.




"Edge" Movie To Premiere at St. Stephen's in DC On Oct 9

Positive Force is sponsoring the October 9th DC premiere of a new German documentary called, Edge: Perspectives On Drug Free Culture. Postive Force's Mark Andersen writes, "EDGE features interviews with PF allies like Ian MacKaye, Ray Cappo, and Kent McClard among others...with focus not simply on straight edge as narrowly understood, but animal rights and other forms of political activism."

The documentary will premiere in DC at 7pm on October 9th, sponsored by long-time punk activist group, Positive Force DC at St. Stephen’s Church, 1525 Newton Street NW (near Columbia Heights Metro and 42, S2, S4 buses) for a $5 suggested donation. DC Record Fair Sunday October 4th

Som Records, The Vinyl District, DC Soul Recordings and Comet Ping Pong are hosting a record fair on Sunday, October 4, from 10AM-4PM at Comet (5037 Connecticut Ave NW). Admission is $2.
The fair will feature record dealers from DC, New York, Richmond, North Carolina and points in between. DJ’s confirmed so far include Geologist from Animal Collective and Rick Taylor from “We Fought the Big One.”
