Postage Increases = End of Postpaid
Owing to the increased postal rates scheduled to take effect today, May 14, we are sad to announce the end of our postage paid (free shipping) option on domestic orders
Owing to the increased postal rates scheduled to take effect today, May 14, we are sad to announce the end of our postage paid (free shipping) option on domestic orders. Over the years we have resisted raising our prices along with previous postal rate increases (we last raised our prices in 1998-99), but realized that with this current increase we would simply lose too much money to continue with the status quo.
Because the post office has taken to raising prices at such a maddening pace, it has become too expensive and confusing to consider changing our postpaid prices. We have decided instead to begin charging postage (note: we will charge actual postage not "postage & handling") on all of our mailorder items. Given that our 'postpaid' approach has been with us since the beginning of the label, this decision did not come easily. However, we prefer to no longer use our straight-forward pricing to cover for what we consider unreasonable, unethical corporate-friendly increases.
If you visit our web-store, at: http://www.dischord.com/store you will find an automatic postage rate calculator in the shopping cart when you login and begin the check out process. There you can select from several USPS services and view their actual rates.
If you want to learn more about what has been going on in the nefarious corridors of the post-office, go here: http://www.thenation.com/doc/20070507/stack

For Windows 2000 users-
People who use the combination of Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer (IE) are experiencing navigation errors in the shopping cart. Windows 2000 features some outdated code which has not been addressed in IE (even in the updated versions), so in this instance we recommend downloading and using the Firefox web browser. Firefox is free, more secure than IE and definitely works with these older operating systems.
Firefox Downoad
For Mac, XP and Vista users-
Most problems can be fixed by simply checking a couple things in your web browser's preferences (or settings). Just make sure that javascript is enabled and that your web browser is set to accept cookies . Also, since we are frequently making small adjustments to our site it may also be necessary to clear out the cache in your web browser (called Temporary Internet Files in Internet Explorer) from time to time so it doesn't load old versions of the pages.
Call us at 703-351-7507 if you continue to experience problems and we can take care of your order over the telephone.
