Keep Your Eyes Open: The Fugazi Photographs of Glen E Friedman from Burning Flags Press is now shipping from our web-store. All pre-ordered books are either in the mail already or will be this weekend and new orders will be shipped out as we receive them.
This Book is being released to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Fugazi's first show on September 3, 1987.
"The 112-page, approx. 9"x11" hardcover book presents the best of Friedman's unparalleled photographic documentation of Fugazi's members in almost 200 color and black & white images captured by Friedman onstage and off between 1986 and Fugazi's last U.S. concert in 2002.
Glen E. Friedman is considered one of the most important photographers of his generation, world-renowned for his prescient documentation of many of recent history's most iconic movements in pop culture. Among other worthy subjects, his lens has captured moments in the birth and evolution of radical skateboarding, hardcore punk, and hip-hop, as Friedman played a firsthand role in their development. The For Callum double CD compilation which was released on Catlick Records to raise money for the care of Callum Robbins, the son of J Robbins and Janet Morgan from Channels, is now also available from the Dischord web-store.
This 32 track double CD features Dischord bands Channels, Medications, Joe Lally along side bands like Mission of Burma, Jawbreaker, Pilot to Gunner, Travis Morrison, Archwelder and many more.
About this compilation:
Approximately 6 months prior to Callum's first birthday, he was diagnosed with with a genetic motor neuron disease called Type 1 SMA, or Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
Although conventional medicine is frequently covered by insurance, alternative procedures & therapies are not. As Janet & J. pursue all available courses of treatment for Callum, the need for additional funds has become increasingly urgent.
The Cultural Society, Catlick Records, & Letterbox compiled this collection of songs in order to raise money for Callum's care fund. Proceeds will go directly to Janet & J. to help ensure that they have sufficient resources to continue their search for effective, lasting treatment. Though our energies here are focused on the plight of our friends, it should be noted that a cure for Callum could also mean a cure for the other thousands of babies who suffer from SMA.
