The only time I actually got to see Fugazi, and to think that I'm reliving that evening almost 20 years later. Great work with the Live Series, much appreciated by lovers of music that's high on quality and integrity.

I remember this gig as an incredible affirmation of what I'd been listening to on their records for several years. Not just the quality of the music and the fantastic delivery, but the stunning humility of these four giants of independent music. The ticket was cheap as chalk, the set just went on and on, and the fellas were there lugging their own gear around.

A nice anecdote from the evening sums it up for me: we bummed a lift home off some French kids who were also at the gig, and as we chatted on the way back it turned out that the young woman who was driving didn't even know fugazi, but had attended the gig to interview Brendan for her boyfriend's zine. She was incredibly enthused about the experience, and not because of the music but because BC was such a fantastic guy. She was amazed at the juxtaposition of such open and friendly humility with the harsh and aggressive music. For me that experience summed up everything good about fugazi (as does the scene in Instrument where they get interviewed by the schoolgirl for her project).

As for the recording, I don't have much experience of live recordings, but the quality of this seems perfectly acceptable to me.
