The Set of Ice Boxes had to me made after Cynthia had shot over 100 ice machines across the US, and Australia. The framed Ice Machine photographs debuted in 1999 at Milky World Gallery in Seattle. Her friend said, "Why don't you do BOX OF ICE BOXES". With a title like that, the project had to be made. She designed and had a box specifically made for a set of 22 Ice Machines postcards. The "Box of Ice Boxes" debuted in 2001, and as the Ice Machines continued to be exhibited, the postcards sold along with them. In 2003, larger 16 X 20 prints of the Ice Machines were made. 20 of these were curated by Aaron Rose and Christian Strike to be in the "Beautiful Losers" exhibit which opening in March 2004 at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati.
