Considering at least a few of the band members had the flu, I was really impressed with how well they played. Lazy Cowgirls & Savage Republic were great bands, so this show was awesome (no where near enough people came for the quality of the show). Set up by Bob Durkee & Al Flipside. Plus Robert Omlit was there!

The third and last gig under the California sun before Fugazi will slowly head back home, playing another short string of shows on the way.
Joe #1 opens the show, to help everyone "loosen up", as Ian puts it. Song #1 is up next, followed by a short discussion with "a tricky kind of sound man" and Ian mentioning he is suffering from a bad case of poison oak (this bit actually triggers my memory as I seem to recall owning an unofficial bootleg once, maybe just a 7", that features a couple of these songs). Bad Mouth, Give Me The Cure and The Word are delivered well, and interspersed with some more humorous and casual banter as Ian turns out to be in a loquacious mood. Another round of relaxed verbal exchanges then lead us into the Waiting Room and highlight renderings of both Burning and Suggestion. A strong and ardent version of KYEO follows suit. The set and show closer, Glueman, is unfortunately cut short.
Even though the performance by the band is virtually flawless, the audience is responsive and everyone seems to have a great time, the recording lacks in quality as it sounds far from crisp overall and, during the up-tempo bits, notably muddled. As a result, this particular recording doesn't really win me over.
